emagine inspires entrepreneurs and investors to think about giving today, long before they make it big. It harnesses their entrepreneurial drive and energy and uses it to change the way everyone thinks about giving.
The idea for emagine began with eleven people - all investors and entrepreneurs - with different interests and opinions. They looked at what they knew about their peers, a group of individuals that believe in possibility and success. A group that likes to give but doesn't always have the money, knowledge or time to do it.
Their idea was to build an initiative that was simple - encourage investors and entrepreneurs to pledge a percentage of their future profits today.
They found inspiration in Imagine Canada 's caring program, a program designed to increase corporate giving by establishing a percentage based benchmark for giving. The result: corporate giving increased by more than a billion dollars in just 10 years.
Imagine Canada's percentage based formula had momentum so emagine used it. The untapped giving potential of entrepreneurs and investors in Canada was way more than a billion dollars.
The result was emagine, an incubated program within Imagine Canada , to increase giving from the entrepreneur and investor community. The eleven people who had thrown this idea around became founders. They put in their money and time to get it started. And they became the first members to sign-up, making the pledge to donate a portion of their future profits to the charities of their choice.

In April 2006, emagine emerged from incubation as a new organization. Together with the learning and creative energy of its new board, networks, and members emagine is leveraging its connections to achieve and celebrate what is possible when individuals commit to and act on giving back to our greater community.
